Description

The BOYU Protein Skimmer WG-318B is a compact, internal nano protein skimmer designed to remove organic waste and dissolved proteins from small-to-medium saltwater marine aquariums. It serves as an affordable, entry-level filtration unit ideal for budget-conscious hobbyists or beginners setting up a mini reef tank

Key Specifications

  • Tank Capacity: Suitable for marine aquariums ranging from 100 to 150 Liters.
  • Water Flow Rate: Circulates between 100 to 150 Liters per Hour.
  • Power Consumption: Runs efficiently on a low-energy 7.5W motor.
  • Voltage: Operates on standard AC 220–240V.
  • Mounting Type: Internal hang-on style with an adjustable bracket.

Core Features & Benefits

  • Efficient Foam Fractionation: Implements a venturi air-injection mechanism that creates dense micro-bubbles to capture organic particles, fish waste, and residual feed before they can break down into harmful toxins like ammonia or nitrates.
  • Integrated Submersible Pump: Features an "all-in-one" design driven by a permanent-magnet synchronous motor, eliminating the need for bulky external plumbing or secondary pumps.
  • Built-In Overheat Protection: Equipped with an internal auto-shutdown thermal switch to prevent the motor from burning out, ensuring safer continuous operation.
  • Hassle-Free Maintenance: The collection cup, pump body, and bottom assembly can be easily dismantled for quick, routine cleaning.
  • Enhanced Oxygenation: The aggressive bubble agitation heavily drives gas exchange, maximizing dissolved oxygen levels crucial for sensitive marine fish and corals.

Performance & Usage Tips

  • Break-In Period Required: Like most budget protein skimmers, the WG-318B may require a break-in period of 3 to 7 days. It is normal to see inconsistent bubbling or overflowing until a light layer of biological slime coats the inside of the reaction chamber.
  • Tuning the Foam: Use the integrated air-intake valve to restrict or increase airflow. Adjusting this allows you to choose between a "wet" skim (watery, tea-colored liquid) or a "dry" skim (thick, dark sludge) based on your tank's bio-load.
  • Water Level Consistency: Ensure the skimmer is mounted at a stable height. Fluctuating water levels caused by evaporation will significantly alter the foam-climbing efficiency, so using an Automatic Top-Off (ATO) system is highly recommended
