Description
Pogostemon helferi, also known as Downoi or “little star,” is a stunning foreground aquarium plant native to Thailand. Its curly, star-shaped green leaves create a unique and compact growth pattern, making it a favorite for aquascaping. Growing 5–10 cm tall, it forms lush carpets when provided with good lighting and a nutrient-rich substrate.
This plant thrives in slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 5.5–7) and temperatures between 23–30°C. While CO₂ supplementation enhances faster, denser growth, it is not strictly required, making Pogostemon helferi suitable for both beginners and experienced aquascapers. With proper care, this plant brings a vibrant, textured foreground to planted tanks.
