The White Albino Axolotl is a rare and fascinating aquatic salamander, featuring a white to pale pink body, translucent skin, pink gills, and clear pink eyes. At 7–8 inches, it is near maturity, requiring a stable, cool-water environment and intermediate-level care.
Key Features & Care:
- Tank Requirements: Minimum 20 gallons; 30–40 gallons preferred. Long tanks are better than tall tanks.
- Substrate & Decor: Fine sand or bare-bottom; provide hiding spots with smooth rocks, driftwood, or PVC pipes.
- Water Conditions: Cool temperatures 60–65°F (15–18°C), pH 7.0–8.0, low-flow filtration, weekly 25–30% water changes.
- Diet: Carnivorous—feed earthworms, high-quality sinking pellets, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, or mysis shrimp every 2–3 days.
- Tank Mates: Best kept in a species-only tank with other similarly sized Axolotls; avoid fish or smaller animals.
