Instead, it showcases a vibrant, glowing red-to-orange "shoulder" or blush across its forehead and upper back, accented by distinct pinkish-red albino eyes. Its fins are elegant, long, and vertical.

  • Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons for a single pair; 55 to 75 gallons for a small school.
  • Tank Shape: Tall aquariums are strictly required to accommodate their vertical height.
  • Temperature: Maintain a stable tropical environment between 24°C to 29°C (75°F to 84°F).
  • pH Range: Adaptable from 6.0 to 7.4, though they prefer slightly acidic to neutral water.
  • Water Hardness: Soft to medium water (2 to 10 dGH).

Environment & Lighting

  • Aquascape: Provide plenty of vertical structure using tall driftwood pieces, Amazon Sword plants, and Vallisneria.
  • Lighting: Use dim or diffused lighting. Their albino eyes are highly sensitive to intense, bright aquarium lights. Floating plants (like Amazon Frogbit) work perfectly to create natural shade.

Diet & Compatibility

  • Feeding: Omnivorous. Feed a varied diet of high-quality flakes, cichlid pellets, and regular treats of frozen or live brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia.
  • Tank Mates: House with peaceful, medium-sized community fish like Corydoras catfish, Rummynose Tetras, and Bristlenose Plecos. Avoid tiny tank mates like Neon Tetras or baby shrimp, as adult angelfish will eat them. Avoid aggressive fin-nippers like Tiger Barbs.
