விளக்கம்
The Galaxy Rasbora, also known as the Celestial Pearl Danio, is a small, stunning freshwater fish famous for its deep blue body covered with pearl-like white spots and bright orange-red fins. It was first discovered in Myanmar and quickly became one of the most popular nano aquarium fish due to its extraordinary coloration and peaceful nature.
This fish is commonly found in planted aquariums where its shimmering pattern stands out beautifully against green plants and dark substrates. Despite its small size, it has a very striking appearance that resembles a “starry night sky,” which is why it is called the galaxy rasbora.
Characteristics
Stunning Star-Like Color Pattern
The galaxy rasbora has a dark blue to black body covered with bright white pearly spots that resemble stars. Its fins are often edged with orange or red coloration, making it extremely attractive in aquariums.
Very Small Nano Fish Size
This species grows only about 2–2.5 cm in length, making it ideal for nano tanks and heavily planted aquariums.
Peaceful Temperament
Galaxy rasboras are very peaceful fish that do not show aggression toward other species. They are ideal for community aquariums with other small, calm fish.
Shoaling Behavior
They are social fish that prefer living in groups. Keeping them in a school of at least 8–10 individuals helps reduce stress and encourages natural behavior.
Preference for Planted Aquariums
They thrive in aquariums with dense plants, moss, and shaded areas that mimic their natural habitat.
Sensitive but Hardy in Stable Conditions
While they are sensitive to sudden changes in water conditions, they become hardy and active when kept in stable, well-maintained aquariums.
Bottom to Mid-Water Dweller
They usually stay in the middle and lower levels of the aquarium, especially among plants and hiding areas.
Behaviour
Calm and Gentle Swimming Behaviour
Galaxy rasboras move slowly and gracefully through plants and open water. They do not rush or show erratic movements unless disturbed.
Strong Schooling Behaviour
They feel safest in groups and often swim together in loose shoals, creating a beautiful visual effect in planted tanks.
Shy but Curious Nature
They are slightly shy, especially in new environments, but gradually become more confident and may explore open areas once they feel safe.
Non-Aggressive Community Behaviour
They coexist peacefully with other nano fish and shrimp, making them excellent for community aquariums.
Feeding Behaviour
They are omnivores that feed on small flakes, micro pellets, and tiny live or frozen foods such as daphnia and baby brine shrimp.
Preference for Calm Environments
They prefer low to moderate water flow and dim to moderate lighting, which helps bring out their best colors.
Social Interaction Within Groups
They maintain loose but constant interaction within their shoal, often following each other and reacting collectively to movement or food.
Stress Response Behaviour
When stressed or kept in small numbers, they may hide frequently and lose some of their bright coloration.
Aquarium Adaptability
With proper care and stable conditions, they adapt well to home aquariums and display their full color potential.
